For our first taste of football during Wild Card weekend we have the Tennessee Titans traveling to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. Let’s be honest for a second and admit that as fans we shouldn’t have to watch the Titans struggle to play football for 60 minutes while the Ravens and Chargers watch from home, but that’s where we are so let’s just hope the football Gods show us mercy and immediately bounce them opening week. I think the Chiefs take this one fairly easy, I think their offense has enough weapons to give Tennessee fits at every level from Hunt, Kelce, and Hill. I also trust Alex Smith far more than Marcus Mariota who has regressed to near Tom Savage levels this season throwing 13 TDs against 15 INTs in coordinator Terry Robiskie’s 2017 version of the Wing T. Give me Kansas City 27-14
For our second Saturday game we have 2016 MVP Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons taking on white hot Jared Goff and the LA Rams. This match up promises to be more fun and almost guarantees offensive fireworks. While many people point to the fact that Goff has never been to the playoffs before, I don’t feel like that’s going to matter much with Sean McVay under the headset. He’s a master game planner and play caller who will do his best to keep the Atlanta defense honest. I’m looking forward to watching the match up between Julio Jones and Rams CB Trumaine Johnson who should draw Jones for most of the game. Another match up to watch is All-Universe DT Aaron Donald lining up over Ben Garland at LG who is replacing Andy Levitre who was placed on IR a few weeks ago. While I like Atlanta as a team more, I don’t trust their offense which has been up and down most of the season with Steve Sarkisian in his first year as their offensive coordinator. This game could truly go either way, but I’m taking the Rams 35-31 in a shootout between two hot NFC teams.
